Numpty farmer decided to strim the weeds in the paddocks, unfortunatley he didn't warn us so B was out, he went nuts at the sound of the "big horsefly" and whilst doing mad laps of the paddock kicked himself on the side of his near fore and is now throwing a splint

So he is now in on box rest, cold hosing and Like Ice has removed the localised swelling but there is still heat in the splint itself and he is not quite sound. Oh and naturally he is due to run at Ascott BE next weekend

(1st BE!)

So please lots of HHO vibes

and a question - if he is sound and the heat is gone in time for us to get some work into him (he is very fit by the way!) would I be mad to run him Sunday????

Pimms and Chocolate for anyone who has got to the end of this.

Im dealing with a splint as well .Vet told me to have 3 weeks off 2 weeks in walk on soft ground then build up to trot. Also on danilon for 3 weeks for inflammation.Hope its not too bad.

Oh Cellie, yours sounds must worse than mine! localised swelling has gone in 24hrs with cold hosing and clay and he is only just unlevel! It is sods law as a friend has a horse who throws splints and reaborbs them all the time and has never done an unlevel step!

Oh thats good news if the swelling has gone .I had mine xrayed and it showed hairline fracture it was caused by concussion extra pressure on front legs after spavin surgery.Sounds like you might be lucky
