my poor lab woke up at 2am in pain wouldn't stop crying, arching back in standing, walking gingerly, lame on front right, back end weak- reflexes normal but on jumping up his legs collapse and sitting bizarrely-rounding his back so been at vets since 3 with no real change.

very strange as at 6pm yesterday he was absolutely fine.

so please send him get well soon vibes- he is only 2 and had unexplained abdo/back pain in December which settled with reduced exercise for a month just seems so unfair!
:(

Awww bless him. Sending vibes but also hoping that whatever is causing this is discovered now and can be rectified. Poor thing, it's so hard seeing our animals unwell. Big hugs xx

update- he is staying in vets for next few days. all x rays normal, he has had 8 joints tapped and 6 have shown infection they are waiting for results to come in to see if a cause, he is now on steroids to keep pain and inflammation down, but vet feels positive about the outcome so that's good.

My sisters dog had immune mediated poly arthritis when he was about 5yrs, very painful and lame on three out of four legs and joint taps showed infection. He very quickly improved on steroids.

Vibes for your boy but sounds like he's at a good place xxx

thanks- yes he definitely is. so glad he is insured can't believe the cost already!
ST that's good news- that's what they are calling it at mo, did your sisters dog come off steroids after a while?

I did PM you but it says your box is full ;-) he was on steroids for about six weeks from memory and never had another attack xx

just thought would update-
vets really pleased with him today no yelping on joint manipulations he is bright in himself. won't eat but he does starve himself sometimes at home so not concerned about that and steroids decrease appetite.
fingers crossed he may come home tonight!

Oh this is good news . . . very glad he's feeling better and fingers and toes firmly crossed that this recovery trajectory continues.

thanks- he is back for a check up tomorrow, had some results- they confirm the inflammation we are just waiting now to rule out rheumatoid arthritis and tick born disease- fingers crossed that these come back negative.
