ps.... Dont tell the police to be on the look out for a trailer with Merlin on the front!!!! I shall have to take a blanket to hide under!!!

My trailer started juddering on corners a couple of weeks ago - gave the poor horse a terrible ride and I was really panicking. Apparently the brakes were locking on and when I finally got to the venue one of the back wheels was red hot. I know you have just had your trailer serviced but it might be worth checking.

But if the servicing guys have said that its ok.... Its a very well renowned centre and I am sure after all the whining I did about it being jerky that they would have made some money if they could
grin.gif

It was about 15miles to the centre and the first thing they did was to poke about with the wheels, maybe to check for heat???

I am at a bit of a loss really.... but going to try it on another stretch of road tomorrow to see if its the road causing it rather than the car/trailer

Is it just slightly jerky occasionally? - I think all trailers do that at some point during a journey.

Anyway good luck tomorrow - I hope they give you a nice big haynet and that you load easily!

Thats the weird thing..... its all or nothing. It jerked all the way to the service place and back again.... so 30miles in all, yet didnt jerk at all going to hack with Piebaldsparkle..... It also jerked most of the way to see Mudsplasher...

The main difference though is speed.... Frensham is a twisty, hilly route and the other two are dual carriageways.

So do you think that could have anything to do with it???

Just to add, its worse at 50mph than 60 or 70...... was telling my mum today and she went a bit pale...... I didnt realise there was a 50mph limit for trailers
shocked.gif

Obviously I only did it coz it was empty!!!

Oh and I have no intention of going in with any less than two lunge lines and a whip!!!!!! Also can I wee and poo in there like M does????
grin.gif

I should take some travel sick tablets! I travelled in a trailer once with a yearling - it was not a nice experience! Hope it isn't anything serious with your trailer.

Bloody Hell - MQ - no wonder its jerky if you drive at those speeds!!!

I barely ever get over 30 or 40 if its empty! - The trailer must be swinging and bouncing all over the place at 70!

Strangely enough it was better past 55mph
shocked.gif

It was for short periods only...... believe me I dont go that fast for long
grin.gif

I am at my wits end as to why it does this so have been thinking of various ways to test it, or alternatively to lose my licence so that I dont have to worry!!!!

Mmmmmmmm..... yes ok......... My mummy told me off too!!!

You know merlin likes to go fast
shocked.gif
He was soooo sad I had left him behind....... NOT!!!!

Note to self..... I must be boring.... errrr I mean I must stick to the speed limits!!

Used to tow it with a disco...... no problems except I was always paranoid that the disco was struggling.... but then it was OH favourite car and I would be PTS if I had damaged it.

It would be a good exercise to tow on same road with different car and my car with different trailer...... just need to find a willing party!!!!

I do have an idea or two.... so hide if you know me!!!

Has it only been jerky since pulling with this car? If so like someone said earlier maybe your tow bar is two high and Merlin is stamping about if he feels he's being slanted back. Ours used to do this so had a new towbar fitted the ones that give you 3 or 4 options of height for the ball so easy to alter and made the towing even better.

I travelled in the back of our trailer when we were transporting our pony with a fractured leg . It was a horrific journey (although pony was fine). At one point I phoned the driver to tell him to slow down, he was only doing 25mph

I think it has definitely made me a more cautious driver when towing the trailer, you feel every bump in the back. Good luck MQ and hope you find the cause of the problem.

Well..... thanks for the vibes, but I didnt go in the trailer in the end
grin.gif
I got the OH to tow it...... He thinks it is just the car..... the trailer is steady and level and the jerking is confined to the car only. It gets worse on more bumpy roads
frown.gif

I was worried that someone would see the Merlin sign on the front and have seen me posting on here...... then stop the vehicle and find me puking in the back!!!!

No really..... everyone said it would be terrible and I would feel sick, and I cant abide feeling sick
frown.gif
I get travel sick just as a passenger so the back of a trailer would probably have killed me
