Doh!

My new grey went out in the field Tuesday - came in fine!
Wednesday - fine
Yesterday - Really deep cut on his hock...

He has been kicked and my vet thinks it is into the joint

So he spent 2 hours yesterday being jabbed, poked and prodded by the vet!

He was a good boy for all jabs but wasnt so keen on having his wound cleaned and flushed so had to have so sleepy juice!

He is now on box rest, injections twice daily followed by powders with a re visit by vet on monday to remove his bandage.

So vibes please that its all clean on monday / that he doesnt kill me on box rest / and that i can get over my fear of needles to inject him

This is what he thought to sleepy bye bye juice!!!

please ignore the bed - he has a habit of pawing at his bed before he lays down - anybody would think he prefers the rubber matting.

Such a shame - bless him. Not a good start ! I really hate introducing new horses to a yard/field. Horses can be so aggresive and spitefull sometimes. Hope he will be ok.

Vicki - he is gorgeous!!

I have a phobia with needles too but when push came to shove and my boy needed them over xmas I managed to do it. Ihad more trouble getting the liquid out of the bottle LOL!! Do you have to inject into the leg or just into a muscle - I gound it easier to do it into the neck muscle - the quicker you do it the easier it is.

Good luck and lots of hugs and vibes for you both x

Thanks guys!

Lochpearl - he has to have 2x jabs a day so i have to do neck in a minute, bum tonight, other side of bum tomorrow, then other side of neck (the side the vet stabbed lots yesterday) then the first side of neck again

eww

oh poor boy, one of mine had the same sort of injury to the hock, its alarmingly serious! You will get used to the injections and be a real pro before long! Hope he feels better soon.

Argh!! Not fun!

Good luck hun, you'll be fine with the needles - I know your hardcore really!!!!

I completely second the Aloe Vera and Arnica though - magic stuff!!!!

I'm not laughing - really I'm not. I can just picture you doing it aswell!!!!

But well done for actually doing it - thought you might make S do them for you.
