Poor Mr Moose is really sick!!! He was a happy bouncing 17hh warmblood Friday night and by Saturday PM very poorly sick on three legs. His front leg looked like a tree trunk and was soo hot to touch, He almost had to drag it along when we walked across his stable to me. Vet was obviously called straight away and was with us within 30 mins with a fill xray kit. She thought he had lymphangitus in his front leg, we were about to box him up and head straight to the clinic when we found the mother of all foot abscesses in his frog that had popped out his heal. Poor pony we had to nerve block him to get it out and sedate him as he was in so much pain.
We have thick black tar puss still coming out of his foot which is very unplesant for all parties, the vets are back tomorrow to decide the next step as he still has a leg like a tree trunk with heat in it. I am injecting him everyday and he is on a huge amount of pain killers. Some of the famous HHOers vibes would be great I dont like it when the donkey is sick :( :( :(

Poor boy. :( Foot abcesses are horrid.
Lucy once had one so bad the vets first thought she had broken her leg  Even after they found the abcess they thought her leg could be broken :( But luckly it was only the abcess (A very very big one).
I hope this is the case with Mr M and he's soon back to his old self.

((((((((((((vibes))))))))))) for Mr M and (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) for you.

Hopefully it is an abcess as unlike lymphangitis you might not see it recur once it is finally gone (altho its probably harder work for you in the meantime). Hope he feels better soon!

Aw what a shame healing vibes heading your boys way, hopefully once its drained he'll be fine, its horrible to see them on 3 legs like that, agree if its an abcess causing all the swelling he's better able to walk around to get rid of the oedema and push the pus out, when my boys leg was up and it was an abcess i put the poultice in the bottom of a turnout boot and turned him out, it took the swelling right down and the difference in 24 hours was great.

Thank you for your messages. I have been walking him in hand all over the place 2 x a day at the moment. I agree he needs to go out! the vet is back tomorrow AM so hoping he will be pleased with his progress ad we will be able to turn out!!! My back is killing me from him leaning on me while I am trying to sort his foot out!

thank you for all the vibes!! Vet was back to check him and he is looking better but....there is always a but......he still has a digital pulse in his foot and leg she is now worried if the infection has spread to his soft tissue in his leg, or that there maybe more puss coming :( he still has a small tree trunk for a leg but he does seem to have a knee cap again. They are back on Friday to see him and if no better we will have to take it from there.
