Taking dogs to vet this afternoon. Skye is lame. The only thing I can find is broken nail--would that make her lame? She is very reluctant to put her paw to the ground. No thorns or anything else to be found.
Also I'll be getting some form of calmer, sedation for Jess in readiness for b***** firework night.

Oh do get it sorted, a colleague's dog lost a claw, it got infected, the infection got into the bone and now he might lose the toe if his antibiotics don't work

Vibes for poor wee Skye xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Vibes for her - if you think how bleddy sore it is for us when we rip a nail, you will understand why she is reluctant to put weight on her foot! Hopefully it is nothing too serious x

Hi Everyone.
Thanks for the vibes. The vet thinks it is just the broken nail and Skye being a Drama queen. (love that description Slinkyunicorn) She's had antibiotic and an analgesic and we've just got to keep an eye on things.
Jess has some Valium and a DAP infuser for Fireworks night and my purse is now empty!
The joys of having dogs.
Has anyone used the Valium for Firework anxiety before? I'd love to hear your experiences.

We are just about getting over a nail injury that happened in May. Stella was dancing on the rug, when she tore a nail and it actually ruptured a tiny ligament in the lowermost part of her toe. It's likely the vet will run an x-ray, as they'll want to check for a break. Be extra careful with keeping the toenail area clean, as the last thing you want is a bone infection.

No x ray taken. Should I ask for one do you think?

Also, I have plugged the DAP diffuser in and it is so peaceful tonight! Not sure if it is wishful thinking but all 3 dogs appear to be so calm. Mind you Beau (Lab) is always calm and relaxed---well she is a Lab after all!
