As you might remember our older gelding got kicked in the field and fractured his leg. We endured weeks of box rest where he turned into a vicious menace. We then got the all clear to turn him into the round pen, then a tiny paddock then the field next to the boys.
All was going well. The vet cleared hubby to lunge him and start light work in the school.
Then 10 days ago we got a phone call from the yard to say he'd rolled and got his leg through the fence. They'd rescued him and he'd seemed ok. The vet was coming that night anyway and by the time the vet came he was three legged again on the leg he'd fractured. It was his rear leg that had been caught in the fence so the vet thought it might be he'd pulled something. He did another 4 days on box rest then turned out again. He seeemd ok so hubby lunged him on saturday and had a short ride in the school. All seemed fine
Yesterday he lunged him again and he seemed unlevel on his fractured leg again.
He's physically short in that leg anyway due to an old wire injury and actually "failed" his vetting due to it. It has never caused an issue. But its making it really hard to see if its worse than normal and we're both utterly paranoid about that leg now.
The vet is coming back tonight to do another assessment. Please please please can we have some vibes for him being passed as fit to start work again?
Hubby is beside himself that we're going to be back to square one again. We take two steps forward and one step back.
Sorry for it being so long but we need some good luck vibes.
