got very tearful this morning when trotted him up so hard when you just have one horse and put everything into it.
Decided to give him off til monday and if no better off to vets.
He's sound in walk, but not in trot and not all time in trot, think it's same leg as last year which is leg he split over reach boot open on sunday so praying he's just knocked it doing that and he's bit sore not that he's flared up sesamoid fractures.

So vibes and advice extremly welcome

Sounds like he is just bruised if sound in walk. Is he sound if trotted in the arena? I would be tempted to pop him on bute for 3 days and see if it improves if there is no swelling or anything obvious.

thanks everyone, he is def sound in walk and still normal in himself - spooking, bronking etc but last night on arena was unsound in trot to start then seemed to ease off and be just about level. in field trotted off lame first few strides, which seems to be same in yard when trotted up lame for first few strides.
No swelling or heat even around cut caused by splitting over reach boot.
do have some bute, so you think should give him some or see how he is on monday with just rest??? in case masks something??

If it was foot and something really painful he would be hopping lame. To me really sounds like a bruise as it eases off. Bit like when a horse has been newly shod and cut a bit short they can be a bit pottery until level up. Bute will have a pretty immediate reaction within 24 hours will get rid of any inflammation and if he comes sound would put it down to a bruise. Put him on bute for 2 days and see what happens. If anything changes call the vet. I would be tempted to put on box rest/restricted movement for 2 days as well as see if all that makes a difference.
The impact of a horse over reaching is phenomenal I think there is research somewhere saying about it but typically cannot find it.

Oh good luck! They only do things like that to scare us. I hate the 'just a bit lame, and not all the time' ones. I'd much rather they were hopping. Much easier to sort out! Tell Bud to pull himself together!

healing vibes for you.! it is so worrying when there is no obvious cause..
personally, i would leave him and re-asses on Monday, then if there is no improvement call mr vet. i wouldn't bute in this case as you are not sure on what the problem is and wouldn't want to mask anything should you need to get the vet..

fingers x he is better after the weekend..

Oh Jeez, felt totally sick opening this

HUN I am so sorry, no wonder youre feeling sick with worry.
But I honestly believe like others have said, it could be him just being over protective of that leg and actually hes just bruised it.

Vibes and hugs from me.

Vibes on there way. I would personally leave the bute till the vet has seen him you dont want anything masked till you know exactly what your dealing with.

Give him till Monday then if still no improvement call the vet they can then access what is wrong and how to treat it.

Hope he is ok x
