Ive never done a report before, so hope this is ok! Ive been suffering from a major ear infection but as my middle name is Stubborn I absolutely HAD to go!
Got to yard, cleaned ponio and borrowed a capable groom as Mother Dearest is still learning the BSJA ropes (ie, obeying incredibly stressed rider ) Loaded and left according to plan, got there in half an hour- thank god for a show in Area 44! At 10.30 I rushed beastlet off the trailer, studded and panicked then MD came back to tell me that they were still trundling through class 1 and that they had quite a few in class 2 as well.
I am never on time, let alone early so we waited, and waited , and waited , and waited , begged the ambulance man for painkillers, and waited...
*hours pass, beast eats for England, MD naps, groom turns pink in the sun and Im clawing at my ear..*
Soooo 1m amature class begins, Im not chasing any kind of qualification, just wanting a nice ride around with no tantrums or lack of brakes. Ahem. Beast is Difficult with a capital D, not on my aids and impossible to set up for fences, let alone get into a rhythm and jump out of that. Get a nice final few fences, but felt like we had regressed a year. 3 down, one is mine as I pushed him for a stride, and the others are his. Only stayed to jump the 1.05 as was one of the first to jump so after a quick recap, drink and removal of flash and addition of my best friend the standing martingale we go back.
*Er, any reason for jumping 1.20 in the warm up?? Put it doooown!*
Beast bounces in, eyes rolling looking for a jump in his line of vision..coax him to the first and I have a rideable horse underneath me. Very twisty course which he isnt liking as he cant take off and has to listen. Have a strop turning to a double of verticals, but set up beautifully for a related line and finish, again on three down but so much better attitude and ride wise. We get back to the yard at 6!!
I know its my fault for not being on ball and as his last outing was a month ago so its a case of consistency. Am still looking for a calmer, but am so happy with him and how he jumps now. Sorry for the length of this but its keeping my mind off my ear!
