Sorry, if this has already been done! But aren't the Horse Flies particularly vicious this year? We have just been for a hack in the woods and the flies have absolutely sent the horses crackers. Lolly has at least 5 bites that have brought blood and Poppy for the first time in her 15 years has been bought a fly rug. Annoyingly NO fly spray really works!!!

We had a BBQ last night, I had to explain to people how to recognise them and why we aim to kill them, not just give them a little swipe. Horrible little gits.

Yes there are lots this year and they're biting ME.

Got 4 more bites this weekend, one on shoulder through t-shirt is particularly bad. I am known for being yummy to flies, mossies, midges etc.

They are also pretty tough. I have been slapping at them, either on me or the horses, and the b*ggers just fly off. I have now resorted to squishing them properly.

We got chased by a squadron of the s*ds today, tried swiping at them and squashing them but there were loads. In the end the horses got fed up and decided it was time to trot as fast as possible down hill.

Yeah saw some for the first time riding today, and they were really difficult to get off too!!!
They are massive!! Are we shrinking or bugs getting bigger?

We had a hellacious hack the other week. We wandered into unchartered territory and were attacked by horseflies. My sister and I seemed to get off unscathed, but the horses were mobbed. We led them for some time and we constantly smaking the damn things off the horses, as soon as we got rid of some, more appeared and attached themselves :-( Absolutely horrible things. Luckily our field seems largely unaffected, theres the odd one or two around but nothing too bad.
