Hi- hope you dont mind me asking but i am going to look at a t/b on sunday (to loan not to buy) i have been told that the horses sire is midnight dancer- i have had a look on the internet but i am not sure how it all works really!
The horse i am looking at is called spaniard- he was aparantly used as a pace maker and i think he was bought by the owner in 2000?
Is there anyway of knowing if he was retired sound? or had any injuries at all?
I have heard you are in the know!
Thanks,
Laura

Laura,
I cant find any horse called Spaniard, are you sure that is his full name?
If he had retired from racing before the owner brought him then I wouldnt worry about any old racing injuries unduly. Although if he is getting on a bit, arthritic conditions may be a worry.

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
I am useless at breeding but i will ask tonight what name he raced under- maybe its completly different.
He is 15 years - leg all look clean ( to me anyway) he doesnt seem to have had any soundness issues but the owner did re-school him straight from the track and she has had him for 6 years.
Can i just ask also- do you feed hard feed throughout the year?
The horse obviously gets fizzy when not in hard work and aparently he has quite a buck on him!!!

He seem to be on a fair amount at present even though he is out on good grass and only in at night.
He was a flat racer so does that mean arthritis will be likely?
Thanks for the advise by the way!
