Video of Mare Giving Birth

That is so lovely to watch

Quite emotional wasn't it? I think the thing which got me was the lack of any human intervention......it was nature at it's finest.

I am now thinking that if I am lucky enough to be there with my little girl, then the camcorder will also be on standby! What a wonderful thing to keep.

Aw I'm pleased you liked it - I was watching a few last night and ALL had some nosy-parker interfering and it got to the stage where I was even becoming a bit miffed......and then I found this clip and just thought it was so lovely.

Yes and yes.

Am very concerned that Amy will be fussed with too much (with regards getting the foal on), and will not be in a position to intervene - so was very interesting to watch how the little mare and foal got on.

Loved the look on the mares face as the foal started to suckle - outrage, then resignation - magic.

Bless her - she didn't know what to do and yes I loved her face when she first noticed the foal, LOL!! It almost looked like she was going to go for the foal but then she sniffed it and all was well.

Watch the Shilohs Twisted gold one......keep an eye on the dates. It can be fast forwarded because it's quite long, but you need to see the very last clip.

Watched the others, I wonder if it was really necessary to pull those foals, or just impatient humans? Can't comment because not knowing the facts it wouldn't be right to.

That was brilliant!
Made me (who knows nothing) ask a few questions, though...if that was my mare I would have probably wanted to stop her moving about so much when the foal was a bit out. Is it usual to let them 'free range?'. I don't mean that negatively, just as I would love to breed my own one day! It obviously worked, and she didn't really looked stressed. Also, people tend to dive in to remove the amniotic sac but foalie seemed to cope quite well on its own.
Really good, though!

The mare didn't really know what to do, bless her. I think next time she foals she will probably just stay down. The reason she probably kept getting up might have been because the stable was so small - I believe I read that it was only 8 X 12, so pretty tiny.

It's always better to leave the mare alone, but people do always seem to have this habit of trying to "help". The only bit I was a teensy bit concerned about was the fact that one leg appeared to be almost full out and I couldn't see any sign of the second leg, although that does happen sometimes.

Fab video and just the kind of birth that should be seen in all animals, hands off and no intervention. Humans are so keen to step in and 'help' without thinking of the possible reprecusions (sp), this happens at work all the time!

That was so beautful!
I have just watched the Twisted Gold 'Shiloh' one, I am horrified to see that the little guy has someone riding him and he was only just over 1yro!

I've just watched Shiloh one too. Bit early to be on his back as he was only born in August previous year!

It is quite usual to back them over here during the winter before their 2nd birthday, however that is when their birthdays are in March/April.....not August.

OMG Tia! How could you put that up when I'm wearing mascara!!!!! My eyes are stinging now!

Seriously though, what a lovely lovely video. The choice of music for the second half is what got me bawling. Perfectly captures the emotion of the moment for Lolly and her baby Trinket (and me it seems).

I want a foalie baby now!!!!!!!

Awwww....look at this one of her at 6 weeks old, excellent music choice again!

Hmmm lovely vid, but like you I was a bit concerned at first when only 1 leg was obvious. Each to their own though - there are a few things that concerned me, but nothing major, all 'could haves'.
