Up to you to decide which is chalk and which is cheese... but they are both equally awesome :)

Yesterday the groom and I trundled up to Bury Farm (very nice venue) for the BE90 JAS to ease us gently into the season. We had Mr Mojo (super cob) and Minnie (the groom's posh grass roots eventing schoolmistress) on the box.

Mojo (the apple of my eye) was up first - he was slightly star struck by all the shiny coloured poles, music etc etc and had fence 3 down, but after that he pulled up his little socks and positively flew around the rest of the course! He has decided that he didn't just want to be a kick-along hunting pony - he quite fancied trying this eventing malarky... and goodness me, is he good at it?! Literally NOTHING fazes him and regardless of how much leg I have/don't have on, he's always going. Good pony! We finished on 22 style (very high marking yesterday), 4 SJ, 0 XC, 8 time. LOVE HIM :D

Pro pics

And his sale video (sniff sniff - he's now on HQ :( :( :( ) Including most of his JAS round.

(Now I'm blubbing at the thought of selling him...)

Anyway, onto Miss Minnie Mouse (DIIIVVAA!!), who hadn't actually seen an indoor XC fence before... hmmmm. It was also our first course and competition together so even though she is perfectly capable of Novice, we thought the 90 was the best bet for us to get to know one another. She's mega talented & I am sooo lucky to be able to ride her this season :)

Looking smart in our Harry Dabbs rug & saddle:

Well, safe to say Minnie enjoyed herself as much as me! She flew round as well, just tipped fence 6 as we got too close, but all in all I think it wasn't too shoddy a round for our first attempt! She's super speedy & cannot wait to go XC :D

Her pro pics are here

And her vid is here

So Minnie finished on 17 style, 4 SJ, 0 XC, 0 time. Very pleased with her!

I must say, though, despite the high marking, I was suprised that my style scores weren't worse... my lower leg seems to have grown a mind of it's own over the winter. Too much SJ and not enough hunting methinks!!

Thanks for reading :)

Great videos :) and weren't they both brilliant considering it was all new to them.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Mojo, he is going to make someone a super new pony :)

Well done! I saw you but wasn't brave enough to say hello. I just love the coloured coblet! We were parked a couple of trailers along from you. I was a bit horrified at my style mark until I saw how high the scores were generally.

Was the course typical of a JAS? I really enjoyed it!

Thank you! And yes, they were :) Love them both. I hope we'll find him the right home - not in a hurry so we can be picky about where he goes :)

Oh, you should have come & said hi! Style marks were ridiculously high, but consistent I think... I got the same marks for my riding on both horses, but Minnie got better marks for her technique than Mojo.

It was fairly typical of JAS - technical questions & then long gallopy parts!

How did you get on?

I was absolutely thrilled; double clear in the 90 with 7 time faults in the XC and style 22. Then had fence 2 and the gate (my fault entirely) down in the 100, with 7 time again and style 23. Bill got a higher mark for his technique in the 100 than the 90 and I got a worse style mark despite (I thought :p) riding some pretty nifty lines. He's been a tricky horse to get to the bottom of so for him to go in there and not look at anything was just the most I could have asked. :D

I went and watched the second class from number 71 to 88. Thought it was a great course and apart from a couple of mishaps from different riders it looked like it rode well.
The music was really annoying though as you couldn't hear the commentators.
Now I've got my lorry back I may try and get to one before they finish.

I was number 73! The chestnut. Nearly fell off at the gate when asked him for a long one and he sensibly declined and chipped in short.

Lol there were quite a few that did that ! Nice round though from what I remember :) lot of people having several fences down after you.

I love Mojo, he looks like a cool dude, albeit a bit too white for me! Very high style marks though, who was judging?
Bury farm looks nice, havent decided whether I'm up for the trek there for the finals.

all the best people do this ;) its because you watched my vid and followed my lead :p

Brilliant! Well done :) Clever pony.

Mostly I think it did ride well. Only saw a couple of dodgy rounds, a lot of the time due to horses being a bit star struck by the arena etc I think.

I love that cobby! Want to swap for a nutty paint horse :D

Haha :) I'm afraid I'm hanging onto him for as long as possible ;) he is blooming awesome though...!

They were high - it was Sarah Bullimore I think. If you can get there I would def recommend you to go to the finals, it's always a good occasion & the facilities there are fab!

Lovely report and what an amazing pony Mojo is. Just looked at his advert...Someone is going to be one lucky person :), I am not normally a cob person and I want him! :D

Can't help but smile every time I see or hear something about Mr Mojo, what an absolute dude with the biggest heart! I hope you find him a wonderful home - he is going to give someone such happiness :)

Minnie looks so exciting! Can't wait to see more of her. Will she be doing Merrist Wood JAS??? XXX

If I'd've been able to sell my youngster, I'd've been straight on a plane to come and get Mr. Mojo. I LOVE him :D

Minnie looks like a really exciting prospect and coped super with her first shot at indoor XC!

Thank you :) we have people viewing him this weekend, we won't let him go anywhere nasty!

Lovely report and videos.

JAS looks like such an intersting competition I wonder if we could get it to take off here...

Thank you :) It is a brilliant competition, especially for what we wanted from it - a gentle way to ease us into the season and a great way to get to know new horses.

Weren't they great seems some horses get JAS better than others and they really got it!

They were! And yes - Some horses just really don't understand it at all, but these two, for some reason, just took to it like the proverbial ducks :)

Hehe :) He makes everyone smile!

Yep, Minnie will be doing the BE100 and the Nov. Hopefully Holly will be there too for the 90 & maybe the 100 if she jumps well this week. Have you entered Murphy and Billy? Also, do you know who the judge is for MW?x

Billy won't go as he is definitely one of the horses who just doesn't get the JAS! He can't understand why anyone would go to the bother of replicating XC indoors when it's much more fun gallivanting outdoors where you can go really really fast! :o

I have never jumped Murphy indoors, but we are doing Sparsholt combined training on saturday so if he jumps well then I will stick an entry in for the Nov and maybe Open if the entries aren't full! I may well be too late though....

I will definitely come and watch if I don't enter though - will be lovely to have a catch up and meet your gorgeous ponies! Particularly excited to see Holly!!!

I'm afraid I have no idea who the judge is? I'm not too bothered as won't be going to be competetive as I won't be asking poor Murphy to go the required speed to ensure no time pens! The poor boy will be overwhelmed enough as it is!!  xxx

Aah, bless Billy! Good luck with Murphy this weekend, I find Sparsholt rather tight to jump in so we tend to avoid it, but that is with Morris, who's canter stride is the same length as a normal horses' 4 strides!

I don't really mind who the judge is either, but was curious after eh seriously high scores this weekend!

I think Holly will have jelly legs TBH, but she's so honest that I think she'll just keep jumping any way :)

I always usually avoid jumping at Sparsholt too so figured if he can manage the 1m10 there, then we should be fine for the Nov and Open JAS at MW :) He is very short striding so in theory it should suit him, providing I have enough room to get him in the right gear, and the distances aren't too long - which may well be an issue!! :o

Will keep you posted :) xx

Well supercob does it again! He will turn his little hooves to anything. I can't believe no one has snapped him up yet? Fab start to the year, well done.
