Aww bless him :)

to be honest, I'm not very good at spotting lameness but to me he looks ever so slightly lame on his off side hind.......but it would be easier to check from a trot!

I'm sure more experienced HHOers will come along and say different, no doubt! :D

It may be a stain or shadow but there appears to be a mark just behind his hip, it looks like it could be damage to the muscle, but could just be my eyesight:eek: Has he been in a fall or fight with another horse.

Looks like there's a fair bit of stiffness in the left hind to me. Not much movement in the hock at all - hard to tell without knowing your horse but could it possibly be a bit of cellulitis which is hindering movement? What happened to him?

Moomin, he got his leg stuck in a fence, and must have strained/pulled it when he pulled it out. I'm not sure about cellulitis, but I have been wondering if standing in a box day and night have caused more swelling and stiffness in the leg. I don't know if walking him out would help with that, but I'm not sure if I sould risk doing more damage?

(vet just gave bute, box rest and cold hosing)

Sorry, I re read the other posts after I had posted that!!

It's hard to say really. My mare had a minor kick wound on her left hind last year and she ended up with cellulitis from it which caused considerable stiffness and swelling. She was on box rest but being walked out on very short walks which seemed to help. I would take advice from your vet on this one, as it could be any number of things causing it!

it's okay! I thought cellulitis had to have a wound to 'get in' through, that's probably noT right though!

Yeah, going to keep going like this for a little while, and if nothing improves, we will have to investigate further...
