Now i dont mind a bit of CC but here a bit if history so we are all reading from the same page.:) I dont profess to be brilliant, i dont profess to be anything other than a horse rider who enjoys their horses and takes lesson to improve :)

I have had a spinal injury that required surgery so thats why i may seem stiff in the vids especially from the waist, I know I am fat but fair enough if you want to comment on it any tips would be great :D

The horses are a 12 year old TBxWB mare (eowyn) I have had for less than a year and a 19yrs old (I think) TBx Welsh D (Kia) with arthritus hence the tiny jumps :)

Now i know my faults and I will not take offence at people pointing them out, I have had a few bad strides in there and i am willing to show them as they show progression, I did stop jumping for a while due to confidence issues and then also with my back hecne why the jumps are small but we are getting there :D

Your horses look like they are enjoying themselves and so do you :) That is what's important.I can't offer advice as I am rubbish at jumping. Eowyn is beautiful though.

Oh, and I am jealous of all your grass.

Hey,
I'm useless at crit but you have given me faith about being able to get back to riding after I have my 2nd spinal op (first one failed)! I do however want to get on before that happens, so it's very nice to see someone who has done it already :D

Body protector on hat on and neck strap.lunge horse beofre hand if needs be and go from there :)

If i can do it anyone can!! I had ligament and tendon separations from spine and pelvis so things are not 100% but they are much better :)

Eowyn is so pretty! I think generally all is good! Both your horses seem to be quite relaxed and willing in their work, I bet they look forward to it :)

I'm not an expert on jumping, but I could say a few things:
for warming up you could try doing some two-point position in canter? You seem to flap a little in your seat, which could make your horse a tad sore especially if he's old and hasn't warmed up yet.

your hands could be more still, when you post the trot they ride up and down, which is bad for your contact! try thinking of your core holding your balance, this way the hands won't bounce as much.

Also, I think you could ride Eowyn into a more energetic canter (she could handle it), so she uses more of herself, but don't overdo it to keep her relaxed and balanced.

also, my personal opinion is that stills within the video are very boring to watch and never really show anything valid of critique because even if you're not such a brilliant rider you can always find a moment when it all looks good. it's not really personal, I just hate this general trend with horsey vids.

hope this helps?

Oh that sounds painful! I have a couple of slipped discs causing sciatic and where they have operated on one disc it's left it very weak, making bending etc very hard! I also find getting on the hardest part of riding at the moment :rolleyes:

I would say that you need to bring your leg back from the hip more so it is more underneath you. On both horses your whole leg is a bit too far forward. By bringing your leg more underneath your balance will improve.

Nice horses though and you ride them well, especially after your injuries. As for you saying you are fat- you're not that fat and you carry yourself very well. You look like you try hard too. At one point you got a bit left behind but you slipped your reins so you didnt yank the horse in the mouth- fab!

Hi, just wanted to say you look like a lovely girl with two fab horses having a good time, what more could you want?!

Well done with getting back in the saddle and having a go, it can't have been easy. Nothing wrong with having lessons to help you progress, whatever level you are at.

And I wish my lower leg was as stable as yours!

Good luck with it all, and have fun! :)

Firstly you bay horse is LOVELY :) If you ever want someone to jump him ill be there in a flash :)
I think in your 1st vid your mare does not get the correct strike off the 1st time? Your field looked quite uneven and i think that might be part of the problem, as she is old and stiff so the ground might be unbalancing her? I know that its not possible for everyone to ride in immaculate arenas !!
I think you need to work to make your hands and seat a bit more independant, but overall there is so much to like and i think your doing very well :)

Hi Nikki, echoing what the others said, you and your horses look for the most part nice and relaxed and confident. While there are some improvements you could make to your position, I get the impression you already know and are working on those, so I wont bore you!

One thing I would say if I was there teaching you would be to get organised! Plan ahead, yes there are times when your horse runs out, lands on the incorrect lead, takes off on a bad stride, takes you into th trees (lol!) but it seems to me you are capable of fixing all these things yourself, you just need to plan ahead a bit more.

Overall it's a very nice impression and I would certainly love to have someone like you over here riding my horses!

Yup I certainly am when it comes to jumping. I am going to be getting more lessons when my bay horse is up to it. She injured herself recently and is just coming back into work. The black horse i older and only jumps occasionally but he likes it!!!
