Wasn't he just! I'm loving that he bought Ballyboyle for 17K in 1951! It's hard to believe that he started training in 1943!! An absolute legend! A true genius!

I am too young to remember actually seeing his most famous horses run and win 'live'. But I have read and heard so much about this man that he was an absolute legend in both codes. A true genius and multi-tasker when it came to training horses for the flat and the jumps. I don't think anyone has ever and will ever come close to this man's achievements in either formats of racing. Most trainers master one, either the flat or jumps but he did both and will be admired for many years to come.

So sad, i'm gutted.
He had a very good innings though, and its lovely to hear he died at home in Ireland.
