What vintage horse/riding wear do you use? either purchased lately or in the family, or just had knocking about for years?
I have a nice collection of vintage fox mask stock pins, i picked up a nice Edwardian painted one on ebay a few months back for a few pounds, its lovely :) some of the ones i have a rather OTT and just for my collection, but theres a plain simple silver vintage one which i plan to wear :)
also picked up a vintage navy wool hunt coat, although it hasn't arrived yet but looking forward to receiving it :)
Quite liking the look of vintage showing canes and hunting whips.

What goodies have you got? :D

Just been given a hunting crop which is rather lovely, needs to be refurbished before I use it though. I do have Schneider long leather boots - they would have cost a fortune brand new! Mine are aged, and give me a good leg on a horse (moulded to position by the previous owner!) but I haven't even opened the bag they're in for about five years, I'm a bit scared about the level of mould which is probably lurking in there!

i bought some world war ex armey grooming brushes there lovely , i desprair at the brushes being made today total carp! missed some ex cavelrey boots last week on ebay, i like ebay but you would never notice,:p

Old fashioned leather knee boots for horse.

A couple of antique hunting whips & a lovely sandwich case & hunting canteen.

My stirrup leathers are the same ones I used as a teenager (very vintage now!).

I have used the same stirrups/treads for 31 years now...still look like new!!!!. I still have some Harry Hall cord breeches that I bought at the very first Gatcombe.......must have been around 1982????

Daisy is using the stirrup leathers I had as a child, the modern ones are either too short or too long .

I also picked her up some old fashioned pin cord breeks from an antiques stall at a show we went to.

I also have 2 pairs of Harry Hall Cord Jods. Purchased around 1978-80. This was when they were still 'Made in England'. They hardly show any signs of wear, even though they get worn through the winter. I also have a bridle which we bought when we got my first pony back in 1972, and still have the pair of stirrups leathers that we bought secondhand at the same time.

I have a wonderful old pair of "elephant ear" breeches bought from the second hand section of a tack store many years ago.

I also have a nice jumping whip that must be at least 50 years old that I still use for competitions and also for hunting - it it so much better quality than most of the whips you get today. It has a lovely big leather flapper that gives a really good crack!

I also have and sometimes use stirrup leathers that must be 35+ years old and a sandwich box about 60 years old.

Not exactly vintage but quite old- i have two cottage craft headcollars still in use. One i bought 25 years ago and the other 20 years ago. They have brass fittings. Shame they don't make them like that any more! But then i suppose if they did they wouldn't still be in business as nobody would buy anything new.:p

If you ride side saddle, chances are you use vintage or even antique stuff! :) It also helps that I'm a vintage clothing dealer so often pick up side saddle stuff in my travels.

My Moss Bros riding habit is from 1934 (Moss Bros stopped making them sometime in the mid 1960's), my Whippy side saddle is from the 1930's (Whippy was bombed out during the London blitz and then the name bought by Champion & Wilton), my Beck-Morrow off-side side saddle was made in 1898, my Mayhew side saddle in 1905, my side saddle crop made during the 1890's, my top hat is from the early 1900's, my bowler from the 1950's/1960's and one of my side saddle three fold girths made by Owen, dates from the 1930's as well (Owen was also bombed out during the blitz).

All of my things (except my Mayhew which needs refurbishment but is otherwise sound) are in excellent condition and are regularly used so it's a testament to the workmanship back then.

I've always wanted elephant ear breeches but they never fit my calves :(

My hunting whip is rather old and lovely. My dads hunting coats are from the 70s.
I have lots of old tack, but I don't use it. Although, I do still use an ancient pair of nicol stirrup irons on my spare saddle. People at the yard take the mickey out of them, but they are perfectly safe and functional :)

I also have HH cord jodhs  - dating from about 1982 & 1986 - and can now get into the navy (newer pair) again, tho the burgandy 1982 model are too snug right now. Both pairs were worn sooo regularly till early 2003, then took a rest :)

Got a couple of old but servicable jute rugs which are sull used in the winter - usually for snowy fuzzies before putting on drier 'newer' rugs:)

Plenty of leatherwork dating from childhood, including immaculate Willis-pad & my (and then my daughters) leathers & irons, rocking horse & 3" size.
