Well my boy has once again been diagnosed with a virus. Vet took full bloods and results show low red cell count, low hemoglobin and high monocyte count, everything else within normal ranges. This has happened every year since I've owned him between May and July so I'm starting to wonder if you would get this result for something else that could be underlying? Poor boy looks very sorry for himself. My vet has recommended Aloe Vera and an iron supplement but from my research horses should not need iron unless they have lost large amounts of blood. Anyone experienced anything similar and got to the bottom of it?
