Three of mine have had a slight virus, my lad had it the worst; off white snotty nose and a bit of a cough. He is on the mend now but still has a slight a cough, this has been 11 days now. Just wondered if anyone else's horses have had anything similar and how long it took to get over as I don't want him to lose too much fitness...none of them seemed ill at all. Oh and it's definitely not a hay cough as its good stuff and I soak it. Thanks!

Yes, was talking about it with someone at the yard last night. Mine has been a bit off colour for a couple of weeks, lots of snot, coat gone a bit dull and quite lethargic. Other person's horse has also had snot, she said his coat is horrible and he just seems under the weather, and a third person said something similar.

My guess is there must be a bit of a bug going around. I've added some Red-Cell to my horse's feed the last couple of days to hopefully give him a bit of a boost.

Couldn't tell you how long the bug will last though!

Thanks for your input chestnut cob that is interesting. Hope yours gets better very soon. This morning my lad was quite snotty again and coughed stuff all over me :-( His coat is rough and horrible but I think its just the cat hair time of year. Otherwise he seems fine. One of my friends horses had a bleed and that was apparently triggered by a virus so must be a few things doing the rounds.

Just found this thread, my friend's horse and one of my ponies has a bit of snot and a cough, but seem well apart from that (normal temp, eating etc), I think there is something going around.
