Well, what can I say.............

Scranny Ann and her wonderful OH invited me and my daughter down, with the dogs, to go shooting on the Estate.

Daughter and I left at 4.30pm (straight after school) and drove down (shame it was in the dark as its such a lovely drive usually!). We met at a dodgy layby

and took the dogs straight to her Dad's kennels. Its a beautiful set up and very clean. Toby and Flyn immediately made themselves at home on the lovely rugs and baskets that SA provided for me so we quickly left and headed straight to the pub!

The pub was so beautiful, very friendly, fantastic food and exceptionally reasonable. Daughter and I stayed in the pub that night (really lovely big, clean and beautifully decorated room). Because we had to leave early in the morning they left us a Continental breakfast outside our door for the morning - how posh is that!!! It was scrummy

So early start to collect the dogs and straight off to the shoot. We drove into the most beautiful estate, amazing landscaped gardens and met all the other beaters and pickers up.

Everyone made me feel so welcome, were chatty and friendly and its such a small world - some of us had plenty of people we knew in common - always the way!

I had come prepared with a bottle of Roxtons Sloe Gin and a box of muffins but I am such a plonker! - I left them on the roof of my car, which I realised as soon as we had got to the first drive - Doh

Anyway, the first three drives were in the woods. After the second drive we stopped for Champagne and Sloe Gin - (SA called it a very rude name!!)

After the third drive we went back to the beaters barn for soup, dinner and more drinks!! Then a final drive and before we knew it the day was over

I just can't thank SA enough for inviting me down - both daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, can't say we contributed much to the shoot or the picking up and Toby whined the whole day which was intensely annoying! But it was amazing to meet SA's beautiful dogs.

I am definitely coming again SA!! and I only hope that I can show as much generous hospitality when you come to me in March

Anyway - I expect you are bored stiff reading all that - so onto the pictures........

Toby and Flyn looking slightly concerned after a two and half hour drive, a night in strange kennels and wondering where the hell they are!

Stopping for a drink - me and SA (God knows why I am pulling such a ridiculous face!) SA is the tall, slim good looking one by the way

This picture epitomises SA - Sloe Gin in one hand and Poo in the other!

And here she is again with her gorgeous dogs Kensa and Ellie

Here is the Chesapeake Bay that has sparked her interest in the breed

And a quick pick of the dogs all trying to hang out of the back of the truck whilst we are zooming along - why do they do that? It frightens the life out of me!! Flyn looks like he is about to fall out!

And finally, after a long drive - back home, tired out and fast asleep with the cat

Thank you so much SNA - we had a fantastic time

LOL - Toby is a very solemn dog and takes life very seriously until that is, you are either tacked up when he yelps around like a puppy or out shooting!

Would you believe it!! A guy I know who produces the Easy game carriers has just rang and invited me to Bucks!

"Have dogs, will travel" Thats my motto from now on I think!!

Fantastic report Ravenwood, it sounds like you had a fab day
grin.gif
I am exceedingly jealous! I love the picture of Toby waiting for the first drive, really shows what a handsome lab he is
smile.gif

Oh dear ... i bet you all this i'm a raving drunkard now!!!

It was a lovely day - albeit sad my dad couldn't be there, he spent the day with mum after my nan died yesterday morning

RIP Nan.

We were so lucky with the weather ... not a drop of rain!!

RW - it was such a pleasure to have you both here, you're welcome down anytime
smile.gif
Bruce and i can't wait to come up to you in March.

The pictures really don't do Toby and Flynn justice - they are GORGEOUS! Toby has the most beautiful eyes.

I'll go through my pictures tonight, probably post a few later.

A great weekend had by all
