We adopted a delightful collie from the Dogs Trust about 4 years ago. She has a grade 5 heart murmur. We think she is 12. She receives medication for this and has 6 monthly check ups. She is a perfect weight and is walked 3 times a day, so pretty fit. She has a very sensitive stomach so we have experimented with foods. She does best on a diet of scrambled eggs and bread (homemade so no additives) for breakfast (don't laugh!!) and raw meat and rice for dinner. She does really well on this. However, the vet said at her check up yesterday that she is not getting the right vitamins and minerals with this diet and it might be better to try and put her on a commercial feed to ensure she gets the right ones? Is there anything I can add to her meals instead of giving her commercial feed?

try putting the diet into BalanceIT(its free to use) and youll be able to get an idea on potential deficiencies and modify accordingly. It does sound like quite an unbalanced diet for longterm feeding.

At that age and with those issues, within reason, I would be feeding whatever the hell the dog wants to eat ;)

To a certain extent I agree. And when we try something else she gets an upset stomach or throws it up. She does look ridiculously well and people think she is half her age. She can outrun my 7 year old collie! I'll try adding a few variations to her standard diet little by little to see if we can improve it.
