I've read the stuff on the BE website, and I'm very interested in helping at events when time allows. I'm sure there will be HHOers who do this, and I'm just wanting some more info about it.

How flexible do you have to be? Time-wise that is!! I would probably only be able to help occasionally to begin with, as I have a family. Do you get a say in what you do? The website mentions training for volunteers, but nothing available at the moment  Do you get plenty of help/support to begin with? I helped at a local HT many years ago which put me off - talk about thrown in at the deep end!

So basically, any 'insider' info/advice would be much appreciated :)

I started helping out at BE events last year. I just chose an event local to me and contacted the organiser. I was honest and said I had no previous experience within BE. I have mainly stewarded for the dressage arenas and cross-country control and have thoroughly enjoyed myself. I have always volunteered for full days, you don't have to be available for the whole event if it is on two or more days, just offer what you can. I have stewarded alongside others who have just done half a day or a few hours. I'm doing a full weekend next week, and can't wait! PM me if you have any particular questions.
Hope this helps.
