I have just had a PM from one of my friends on New Rider asking if I know anyone who would like to help out with the rescues at Hope Pastures. I would do it myself if I didn't work full time and have three horses.

Its in Adel which is North West Leeds, the link is http://www.hopepastures.org/

This is what Marzipan said

"I don't suppose you know of anyone that wants to volunteer at Hope Pastures do you? We are desperate for volunteers, we're really struggling at the moment.

We get no time to provide any more than just the basic care for the horses, fields desperately need poo-picking, horses needs more regular grooming and handling etc etc. Volunteers wanted any day of the week"

It would be great practice for anyone wanting stable management experience prior to buying their own horse.

really i might try that i have 4 horses but my daughter has just started school and am now bored witless so thort i would offer my seriously good mucking out services to somewhere that needs it

I knew of somewhere in Sheffield with horses and just googled sanctuaries as I couldn't remember the name. There is Thornberry and Mill House.

I don't know if they are looking for volunteers or if the latter has horses, but its worth a try.

Its a shame you're not closer to Leeds.

im thinking of trying mill house i know the lady that has it altho the giant pig scares the hell out of me im gonna bite the bullet they do a lot of shetland ponys thornberry is a lot of dogs and cats. its typical first post that comes up on here what im looking for and its miles away lol just my luck

Have they got any accomodation I can share? I could do a few days - maybe a week in feburary if any good, but its too far to go daily.
