The article in last weeks Horse & Hound that stated alot of lorries wouldn't pass their MOT this year especially Bedford TK's is not quite right. The correct ruling is: All lories over 3500kg which are first registered on or after 1983 will need side rails. Any vehicle over this weight registered before 1983 will not require them. I have just spent 4 days talking with VOSA and emailing them to get the difinitive ruling on this. Unfortunately last weeks article did scare alot of older lorry owners into thinking they would have to spend money on side barriers
