Me and Floofy were in the sea tonight having muchos fun!
I have to say - if you have a dog and live close to the sea, a river, a resy or a lake - BUY A PAIR OF WADERS!
Best invention ever :D although not very flattering, unless you like looking like a Tellytubby :p

Just some crappy phone pics, I reckoned Larry Lumix + salt water + sand + hyperactive 6mo working GSD pup = DISASTER!

He looks like he likes it in there! Bless him he is looking very growed up like a weed and a lot less floofy. He will always be floofy though :p :D

I love that the ear floof has stayed dry. :D

I shredded my hands to ribbons and permanently scarred my ankle on one of those thin lines, how on earth do you get on with it?!

Ricoh had his first experience with water the other day, he waded in up until the point where the cold water touched his willy and then he sucked his belly in and leapt out like he'd been scalded. :p

His ears are the only Floofy part of him left!!! I might give him a haircut and stick him in the showring :p

BC, I bought that line when I started tracking and was promptly told it was rubbish and to bin it, I hung onto it and I only really use it on the beach because I don't care if if gets soaked and covered in sand.

Funnily you mentioned getting shredded, I used it once for bitework, about three weeks ago, the trainer decided to let us have a go at a 'flight' (you've seen the pics :p) so says 'on my word, let the line run through your hands and let the dog come to me'.

One of the boys now has video footage of me jumping up and down, squealing 'OW! ******* ******* *******!' and blowing on my hands while Floofy drags the trainer all over the place as he shouts 'Don't worry, I'll just exercise your dog until you're all better, yeah?'
So was told it was rubbish and to bin it again :p

Aw soggy Floofy! Brill idea about the waders, unfortunately I don't live near enough the sea to justify them. Don't know about long lines but can vouch for the fact that sea and sand ***ers up the mechanism on flexi leads. :p

Dex went to the beach today- no photos tho as we went with three others, and trying to hang on to loony bin Dex was enough without taking pics.... partially shredded my hand on a lunge line.....

Im just envious youve got some sun, Floof takes to that like a duck to er water:D Lovely pics would have loved to see you modeling those waders.:D

Mine go into the local brook but apart from that Ive no idea whether they would like the sea.

That beach pic looks similar to where we went on hols, with the estuary (sp) my dog loved it too, she was barking at the sea where it was lapping on the little boats anchored, it was so funny and the little bouy's. Floofy not floofy anymore he's a big boy now lol

I've got one of the thin ones, fine with little Henry but I did get a nasty friction burn on my hand when I lent it to a guy with a whacking great Lab and was demonstrating its use:o Fortunately I managed to avoid too much obvious whimpering in front of the clients:D

ETA and I bought the dratted thing at YOUR RECOMMENDATION CC! *Scowls* :p :D

Sorry Spuds - gloves are your friend :D :p

CT - he does have a gob on him (If he was bred in the NW, they might be related :p) I see there is a dog related to him (same grandad) for sale on a website in the USA, went to click on the link and they have a pic of the dog having a whizz - WHO DOES THAT?!

I may model the waders in due course. The river that flows into the sea might look nice, but smells of rotten fish :o :o :o

Where's the rest of him gone? He's all floof and no knickers! :D

Am also  with skinny long lines. My friends Ridgey took off across a beer garden on Wednesday taking half of my finger with it.

I will be raiding the second-hand tack store to see if there is a lunge-line in there - sorted. In fairness I had not expected to be long-lining anything, but the lab was getting a bit ahead of himself, so the dratted thing had to come out of the bag - only to see I had not packed my gloves! Schoolgirl error:o:rolleyes:

They are super cheap on eBay and come in pretty colours. :p

I've just chucked out an old horse lunge line but you wouldn't have wanted it Spud, during its last use it was dragged through a swamp and has since been sat in my car until I had to clear it out to put the crate in. It had gone so stiff I couldn't bend it to fit in the rubbish bag.

Out of curiosity the eBay shop above has 200ft lines, what would they be used for, don't think I fancy having the Ridgie run at full speed to the end of that line unless I wanted flying lessons?

I hadn't even noticed those, madness! I live very rurally and even I can't think of a practical place to use a line that long without the risk of clotheslining other dogs, people and livestock. :p

Do not use long lines! Learn from my mistakes I met up with a friend today, her dog was on an extendable, mine on a lunge line, we're stood talking and the dogs are running around in circles. Then we realise they've managed to tied us both up, using their leads and we're stuck there like a bunch of planks, unable to do anything, then my dog slips his collar. But touch wood stayed where we are. God knows what we must have looked like! Great photos CC, I love your GSD's!
