went to hack this morning and when put Pidge into trot it was like when they are disunited in canter behind

and he went into canter as it was obviously more comfortable. tried another trot which was exactly the same so came home

he is bog lame behind but no obvious signs of anything wrong. Fortunately have vet coming to Sunny tomorrow for jabs so will get him to have a look at Pidge then. Is there anything else I can do to help Pidge be more comfortable? Did a short hack yesterday where we had a trot and canter and he was fine. Left them out last night for the first time (he had a lightweight rug on) so can't see what he has done or how

Oh and I know this should be in vets but more people come in here. One very worried Suey

thanks, this is the first time in nearlly 2 years since I had him that he's been lame - and boy is he lame

Has he perhaps been messing about in the field and pulled himself? If there's no obvious injury/swelling etc I'd be inclined to think along those lines.

Hugs to you....fancy him going lame so close the the Somerford ride!

exactly the same as mine - so much sympathy going out to you - was meant to be doing my first showing show this morning so i went to watch instead - cant believe how many people said their horses are lame with no visible signs - so obviously we must 'join the club' ! hopefully its just this really hard ground and they will all come right soon xxxxx

Sorry to hear that Sue

I would agree with Beth and suggest that as he has been out in the field he may have pulled himself in there. Mine are out full time now and I have noticed they have had a bit more spark in them and both have been cantering and bucking etc.
Hope he gets better soon though

thanks everyone just can't believe one day he is fine and the next he is so so lame

I know Sunny and Pidge play a lot in the field together but there is nothing obvious on him at all, no heat nothing

any ideas if it is a muscle strain how long before he gets better?
Got local RC show on 6th May, Somerford on the 8th and the HT on the 12th!

with never having had a lame horse before I'm just wandering what the vets will do? do you they come out with "box rest for x no of days and see how is he" or can they tell what is wrong?
Just going out now to do them so will pop him on the lunge very very briefly in the outdor sand school to see if he is the same as this morning. will report back later on.
