Yeah right.
Just bought myself a new project, it's a boat and a longer term project I reckon!!

He's very cute, and 16.3hh and rising of just backed Humungousness

It's always the way, you decide to wait and along comes something when you are not really looking and you just have to buy it, it may be 16.3 now but from what little info you give it sounds as if it will grow rather a lot in the next few months.

Never seen a 16.3hh boat. Can you explain please?

Well it needs a decent contraption in order to get aboard
Good mooring lines to keep it steady while you get aboard
I might get out the inflatable vest as a 'just in case'
It's quite easy to confuse port and starboard at the minute
The turning circle is akin to the titanic

When he finishes filling out he might just look like the titanic.

But all in all I reckon he won't sink

I ride one just like this at work! He had to do proper speed work for the first time today and whilst yes he can actually stride on and get to a decent speed it takes you a bit longer to get there! And then you have to start pulling up a wee bit early to make sure you and your tugboat make the turn and not hit the fence! Though afer yesterday's jumping expeditions I'd say taking on the fence wouldnt be a problem for this lad ... and he's only 4yo...

Good luck with your new toy!

Ah, so glad to hear you've got on board (get it :p), with the official buying new project equine season.

However I do love a big horse so will have to absolutely insist on photos :D

When I bought Bob the notacob ,the vet said that he was an ugly duckling and would either grow into a beautiful swan or a big ugly duck.

Is the other half of a saner variety? :p
He sounds like a good purchase, any chance of pictures?

TB! To be fair he felt reasonably sane when I clambered on him off a racing hurdle in a wide open space!

I'm picking him up on the weekend so will take some then. Also need to work out how to post them now Photobucket doesn't work!!

In the interim I have realised that I don't own any 7ft rugs and XF leatherwork, didn't factor a new wardrobe into the budget!!

Bah, mere details! 7' is the best size for rug shopping in the sales! My last one could wear either 6'9" or 7' and I used to get all the best rug bargains, my friends with dainty little 6'3" horses used to be very jealous. This winter though you could consider 2nd hand, after all he might be 7'3" by the spring!

7ft is a great size cos no one else wants them. You'll get loads of bargains :D

Looking forward to pics.

Looking forward to pics - I'm fascinated by what a 17hh Welsh d X TB would look like :eek3: :eek3:

Usually their diminutive size is the positive balance when dealing with the alternative personality and excess of energy teehee

Gawd you guys are right. Kitting out a gigantasaurus is bargin hunters fun!
Quite proud of my efforts. For £280 I have obtained:
Amigo Aussie Allrounder
Shires no fill turnout
Shires medium turnout
XF English hunter bridle
XF leather headcollar with leadrope
XF standing martingale breastplate

Think that will keep us going for now, he isn't particularly wide so should be able to go in my saddles with a bit of adjustment

Now to try and squeeze him in the trailer :D

On the trailer front to fit Mac in mine the local trailer place made me a new sort of "n" shaped front breast bar that gave him the extra few inches he needed to fit in, worked a treat and had a swing/hinge bracket so could still unload at the other end. Still use it now despite Daisy basically being a pony. :)

He will grow into his head and ears!!

I'm super pleased with him, he had a settled night out in the paddock.
This morning I popped him on the lunge briefly (given I don't know what he has done between buying and collecting), the braying donkeys next door added a bit of elevation :D but otherwise all good.

He has this rather worried/anxious way about him on the ground but once I was on board he relaxed nicely. The 4* horse nannied us out and he was superb. Amazing balance for such a big youngun, naturally forwards and not overly spooky. Quietly excited to see what he does next year.
