My lovely retired TB is on three legs. I have a horrible feeling that she's hurt her tendon as the back of the hurt leg is swollen and warm. :(

Sorry, pointless post really, but I'll update with the Vet's diagnosis later.

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes for the TB.

She has done her tendon, poor girl. The vet is coming back again tomorrow to see how she's improving after her treatment today. It's so hard when you have a horse that will not stable, but we'll do our best and hope that she improves quickly.

Murphy damaged a tendon, luckily not seriously but enough to necessitate box rest. He is one who won't stable on his own, so with vets agreement we fenced off a patch about 10' square in front of the field shelter. Whilst I wouldn't say he was thrilled to be there he didn't throw himself around as he would have done in a stable and the thickening on his tendon eventually went down. If your lad won't stable it might be worth considering something like this.

I've just got back in from the evening check and she looks improved and will now carefully put weight on the leg. She is very lame but much better than the three legged creature that I saw this morning.

A small sectioned off part of the field might work. I'll talk to the Vet tomorrow.

O bless her poor little cottons. You are not having a good year this year are you? Nitty went out to a stable sized patch of field as she was monstrous on box rest. Worked for her. I hope she is showing an improvement by the morning :)

I have decided that all my animals obviously love my Vets more than me. *sob*

The Tb looks a little better today, she actually limped over to the fence for a cribbing session, she didn't even try to walk that far yesterday. It's her DDFT, but she's retired anyway, so I just need her to be field sound and pain free. I do have this horrible feeling that one day that tendon will go 'pop' and not be fixable, but hopefully that's a few years away.
