Wales to Kent - a how much?

I have found my perfect horse - but he is in Wales. How much to get him to Kent, has anyone a feel for this?

years ago I moved my friends horse from surrey/kent borders to north wales and used approx £100 in diesel in 7.5 ton lorry. so they would be looking for time etc on top so probsbly be talking about £200 I would reckon unless you managed to get a shared journey

I got a quote from Wootton Bassett to South Wales a year ago that came in at nearly £300 if I remember correctly.

Think most transporters charge £1 per mile?

Saying that, a friend of mine brought a horse over from Holland using one of the big international companies and that cost about £300 I believe, were about 10 horses on board though

When i moved from shropshire to essex it cost me £300 to move my pony, not quite wales to kent but hope it helps.

I have just moved from mid wales to county durham a total of about 250 miles and I paid £250 for my 2 and that was in a lorry on their own.

I have just moved a foal from Scotland to Gloucestershire and that was £300 with an expert carrier .

I looked into moving River from Surrey to Wales and was quoted around the £500 mark for a single journey (they varied from about £350 to about £700).

I'm on the Kent side of Surrey.

Can you hire a trailer? If I have to travel far afield to pick up horses I generally tend to make it into a family adventure! go on the Friday, park the trailer up at the yard and find something the kids will like for the Saturday stop over at a travel lodge or B&B have dinner out and then pick horse up on Sunday and travel back that way the kids and hubby don't feel like I am abandoning them again in the name of horses! Don't have to be expensive either. Picked my youngster up from South Wales took about 4 hours nice straight route and very hard to get lost! M25 M4 all the way!

I managed to get a quote from a licenced carrier (insist on seeing the licence) to transport a horse overnight if needs be from Inverness to Surrey for just over £400, some were as high as £600 so shop around if you are hiring someone else to do it and if they transport horses as part of their business using a horsebox over 3.5 tonnes they are required by UK and EU Law to have either a Department of Transport Open Operator's Licence or a Restricted Operator's Licence together with MAFF/DEFRA Specific Authorisation Number.
