I have a NF Mare rising 6, who will not move and poo, even if you're trotting/ cantering along, both alone and in company, she will jam on her brakes (can be hairy!) to poo then continue as she was!
Have tried using my whip, pony club kicks but nothing seems to make a difference until she's finished!
Any Ideas or is it soething that will just 'happen'?

Sounds a bit of a pain. I would just give her a nudge, then follow up with a flick of the whip. You pick the pace!! If she really won't listen at all can you practise on the lunge? At least it gives you a little more ability to control sending her on. Failing that, could you have someone on standby when you are schooling who could just send her on if you giving her a kick and a flick with the whip doesn't work?
I always have my mare continue if she is pooing - pulling up at an inopportune time just because she needs a poo is not on! That said, if we are warming up for a show/dressage etc I do pull her up if she is pooing as she is a grey and has a yucky ability to poo straight down her hocks!!

Hum...Have you ever tried to poo while walking? ;-) Probably not that confi when you think about it!

My pony stops when he needs to poo but then I only hack so I don't really care if he stops for a minute :-) Oh and he doesn't stop while cantering, only when walking, sometimes while trotting.

I noticed my friends horse does the same and she also leaves him stop.

Sorry I haven't helped a lot :-)

mine does this! once stopped beautifully at 'A' during a dressage test to have one... sadly this was about the only precise thing we did manage to do. Its never bothered me to be honest but then again he doesnt suddenly stop during a canter do to one.
