Wall Eye Question

Hi Everyone,

I have been helping my friend with her young mare who has one wall eye. I have lunged her a number of times using different lunge lines and no problems.

The other day I lunged her with a bright yellow lunge line, on the one rein fine on the wall eye rein which is normally her favored rein she started to turn in trying to look at the lunge line.

My question is are wall eyes affected by bright colours?

My horse has a completely blue left eye and a half blue/half brown right eye. She's never been spooked by my high viz clothing although I don't have a bright coloured lunge line.

As far as I'm aware the blue pigmentation is just that, pigment, and has no effect detrimental or otherwise to the horse's sight.

no difference at all, just like many animals, some dogs can have a blue and a brown eye, dont worry, think she's just a little scared of the lunge line perhaps?

Might be worth having her checked anyway - just because she has a wall eye, doesn't mean she doesn't also have cataracts or other forms of visual deficit...
