Does anyone have / use the Equimat wall mats?
A bit of background: I have a 12 x 14ft stable, internal Lodden with one external wall, the original building was a cow shed used when the cows were in over Winter.
My horse has the 28mm Equimats underneath and a big, shavings bed - approx 2ft 6 - 3ft banks and 8-10" bed on the whole stable. There is a barred window to outside in the middle of the external wall - the bottom edge of it is approx 4 ft from the ground and it's about 4ft x 3ft 6".
My problem is, the shavings on the back wall are constantly going brown and damp looking whereas the side walls stay clean - I'm thinking as there almost certainly is no damp course in the building it's damp coming through the external wall? None of the other stables have this problem as I'm on the end, and there are other buildings built onto the outside of the barn which presumably insulate their "external" wall?
So, my cunning plan is to get the Equimat wall mats and fix them to the inside of the external wall - whaddaya think? Will it stop the damp striking through and ruining my shavings?
Could always stop having banks I suppose - but my cob always lies against that wall (you can tell by the way they're squashed thinner in the morning!)
Any experiences gratefully received !
