I am planning on renting a small yard, for my own horses and a few full/part liveries. Was just wondering what people would expect from full and part livery, and what is considered an acceptable amount to pay?
The yard is on Kent/Surrey borders with indoor stables and an outdoor school, cant say about hacking but would guess that it is alright. I am an experienced dressage rider and my boyfriend is a showjumper, the horses would be kept to a high standard of care and schooling/ lessons would be available. Also would offer lifts to BSJA and BD shows.
Any input would be appreciated.

kpoundsbery, there's been a ton of posts quite recently about this, with loads of info that you should find useful. I can't help much because prices vary depending on the part of the country you are in and I'm in S Wales. Good luck with your business venture but you want to be careful about admitting that your BF is a showjumper!!! Is that legal lol??????

Im in kent, and i pay £80 a week for part livery in detling area,
includes
all care to very high standard
Outdoor school + Horse Walker + small xc course with jumping paddock.
And get unlimited hay and haylage and 3 bags of shavings her week, this includes all hard feed aswell.
I think this is about fair for the area and espically the way they are all looked after.
I think people expect different things from part/full but in general, to know there horse is safe, happy and all needs being meet when they are not there, normally includes, daily feed + turnout, rug changes, bringing back in, mucking out, fed, watered etc..
Id look at local ads to see what other prices there are etc..
Where abouts are you?
Good luck with your adventure.

This is a minefield as livery is often priced far too cheap for the services provided IMHO

We are going to be £60 per week DIY. This is own stable, turnout pen for wet weather, own paddock, use of arena and extensive jumps, use of farm and wash off. Own tack room and space in our feed room. Water, electricity and unlimited hay and straw.

Frankly any cheaper and it really isn't worth the hassle, but then we are not running a commercial business.

Also worth bearing in mind that a big hunter is going to eat a lot and running the unlimited system means they tend to use more anyway. So on hay alone could easily eat £15 worth per week and use £8 of straw or more so thats straight costs of £23 per week before you even get started!

Someone on here was renting a lovely yard, fab facilities for part/full and when I last spoke to her she hadn't got 1 livery (think 6 weeks after she'd opened!!!) She was also in Surrey, plus she's cheaper than elsewhere.

The trouble is with renting is that it's a lot of money down the drain. A yard just down the road is rented out for £22,000 per year and all it has is 12 stables and a bit of turnout

When you have an empty stable the pressure is on to get it filled!

I do DIY which is £35 per week (stable, facilities and turnout) and they have to buy bedding/forage off us. Then I do services when they want them, eg Turning out for £2. Part livery is £75 per week, so quite frankly DIY is much more profitable. I'm very lucky in that we own the property and have fab facilities, so there's no pressure on how many we have in. Have to say I love being a YO though

I charge full llivery all included for £95 a week (bigger horses are £100 and small ponies are £85)

this includes 7 day a week full livery, feed, muck out, hay water, bring in all rug changes etc etc hay is ad lib ! we have acres of post and rail fencing a 30x60 menage - hacking around the farm with X country course !!!

Did I see £60 per week for DIY on here!? Crikey! I'm sure full livery in my area is around that. £22-25 per week DIY is around normal in this area. Even then some yards have empty stables at the mo.

Yes that was ours - but its not 'expensive'

Arena hire is generally £15 a throw (with my jumps) so if they use the arena 3 times that's only £15 per week for keeping the horse (depending on how you look at it)

Bear in mind £60 is hay & straw all in

I just paid £1.5k to resurface the arena, spent £1.8k on jumps and electricity and water have gone up.

Thanks for all that people, found it all very useful!! Am aiming to have training yard more than straight livery as we are both full time competitors, not sure how that effects pricing but will try to keep it reasonable!!
We all have faults and mine is showjumper BF!!!!

Jesus christ..... I pay £16.50 a week DIY Livery per horse in Warwickshire on a beautiful, well kept farm. I get free straw, big round bales of hay for £20, 12x 12 stables, granted no school but nice flat grass paddock with selection of jumps. 100's acres of off road riding. I've been there 10yrs and the price has never changed! Looking to move my 2nd horse though as I really do need a school. Quite shocked at the prices!!

OK I see your points, I suppose where I am, I'm very lucky - you can't walk 100m without seeing fields of horses!!! My YO is a farmer, we have a bore hole and spring for water so no water bills, YO built both menages and stables are in the old cattle sheds. However I LOVE the place!!!

We have straw included but not hay or hayledge. I also have alot of my own jumps, although there are jumps avalible - I just built working hunter style fillers for myself.
