Want to know more about hunting.

Hi there,
I bought a five year old gelding back in Feb. I'd like to try him out on a hunt, as far as I know he hasn't been hunting and neither have I. How do I find out about local hunts, joining etc.. ?I live in the Blackwood area in Gwent.

Do you have transport? Which side of Blackwood are you, Maes-y-Cwmmer or Tredegar? (I'm from Tred, OH is from M-Y-C

There are quite a few within about an hour of you. In order of (estimated and I'm not very good with that sort of thing!) distance from you there's:

Gelligaer Farmers (Caerphilly area); Tredegar Farmers (funnily enough in Tredegar!) Curre & Llangibby;(Usk); Monmouth (again self explanatory!) Golden Valley (bit further north Hay-on-wye sort of area); Brecon & Talybont (self explanatory!);Pentyrch (just west of Cardiff); Glamorgan (Cowbridge); Llangeinor (Bridgend ish area);

They're just a few, there are others as well! I'd say Gelligaer is the closest to you (?). Google them and give the secretary a ring, they'll be happy to give you some info.

Thanks for that. I'll have a look on the web page you gave me. I keep the horse near Man Moel in Blackwood. Yes I do have transport so I could try any of the hunts you suggested.
