want to travel but..

Basically Im on my gap year atm, and I want to go to Canada for a few months, but the problem is what to do my horse....I mean I feel bad for leaving him here but then im not going to have a year like this to do what I want again, and Ive always wanted to go to Canada, so I'm in a dilemma..anyone had this problem? he can't even have a few months holiday and needs to be ridden because of his arthritis...

How about finding a loan home or sharer? Would anyone at your yard appreciate the ride?
I was in a similar situation in terms of wanted to travel but wanted to further my horsey knowledge. If you feel this is one of the best times to travel maybe try and find a solution with your boy that works well for both of you.

The problem is its probably not ideal to move him for a few months - he doesnt like change. I was thinking of getting a sharer so he could stay at his current yard and my family can still be involved/oversee things?

I think you should go, once you have a job, husband, kids, something like that will be tricky to organise.

Do you have an instructor? Could she recommend anyone for him? Are you at a livery yard? Someone there may know someone who'd like a horse for a year.
