Just wondering if anyone has ever posted a wanted ad on a website or something and what sort of response did you get?

I will be looking for a loan horse in about a months time and wondered whether placing a wanted ad would be worthwhile. Any comments/suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Sarah, if you aren't interested in showjumping give me a shout - I have a lovely 15.2 boy that will need a loan home for up to a year. Does dressage (points), hacking, trec ride and lead, hunting (bloodhounds and foxhounds) no ifs or buts, safe and sensible

I put a wanted ad on horse exchange.
I had many replies. Some genuine some more than dodgy
One said something like "I have a horse,, it is TAN in colour"

Word of mouth is usually best, but asking on here is a good plan.
What are you looking for??

i was just about to post a similar thread!
ive been looking for a loan with view to buy horse for absolutely ages through word of mouth and im now wondering whether to use sites such as horsemart or adtrader??

I would definately give it a go. I have put a wanted ad in for a pony before and had quite a good response, although there was nothing suitable they sounded all genuine. My friend put one in and found a really super pony for her daughter so I think it is the luck of the draw! Good luck with the search. The right one is out there it might take a bit of looking for.

Wanted ads do definitely work - I buy through them sometimes (Adtrader usually )...

BUT you will get unsuitable replies, of every possible type. If you're including an email address, I'd set one up specially so you can delete the account afterwards, and I'm considering doing the same with a mobile phone this time!

If you're brave, do it and sit back and enjoy the responses! Eventually, you'll probably find exactly what you're after.

I would be interested to hear how you get on. I am based nr Gloucester and was hoping I might find someone who had to go to Uni or have a years break who would loan me a quality horse for a year.

I placed a wanted ad on AdTrader for a 1st pony and had lots of replies. I saw 2 of the ponies offered and one was a star and we had him for 18mths before my daughter outgrew him.
