Do people selling horses respond to those wanted ads on horsequest etc?
I was hoping to find a horse by word of mouth, local tack shops etc but am having no luck seeing anything to view and I don't really have that many horsey contacts/friends. Horsemart has only seemed to have things which are too young or too big. I've also looked on horse deals and horsequest but everything is the same or too far away. I went to view one tonight and although it was nice, and I initially thought it could be worth showing my instructor, I didn't feel "wow" afterwards and I think this time I don't want any of my tick boxes left unticked or to make any compromises.
I hate horse buying and can't imagine anyone enjoying it!

I found my boy through an online wanted add I posted. I posted it on several internet sites and got 90% of the replies to my add through newrider.com - and they're free which is an added bonus!
Edited to say: Re-read your post and realised it was asking something different to what I was answering! I probably got 20-25 replies from sellers so yes - they do reply to wanted adds!

lol....if you read my previous posts you'd know what I;m after...as well as my own posts I often hijack other people's (I'm shameless!) and am one desperate step away from starting the "I would love to buy a 15.1hh horse if only I could find one for sale" clique
smile.gif

I'm after a 15.1hh - 15.2hh very sane, sensible horse (pref gelding or very non marish mare) around 8 - 12 years to do loads of low level stuff on (hunter trials, clear rounds, prelim dressage). I haven't done any of this stuff already so need something that knows its job. Unfortunately although I have been riding since I was 5 (am now 32) it had been very on and off until last 3 years so I am still novicey and I lose confidence easily so need something forward going but very safe/well mannered. Oh also needs to be in or around yorkshire (so derbyshire, lancashire, lincolnshire would be o.k).
Might be worth placing an add though if people think they work.

That's really good to know and I will probably do an ad - don't mind paying if they are responded to but thanks for advice on freeads, not heard of newrider.

Have looked at horse exchange for horses but nothing as yet...will view their wanted ads to get ideas for my own.

I put an advert in the local free ads paper and had loads of calls! Also try local riding club websites they get loads of traffic this time of year, maybe the local hunt might be worth a call? Good luck!
