This in itself is not a wanted ad, but I just wanted some advice about how to avoid (or at least reduce) the number of people who continue to message with unsuitable horses. I'm getting numerous messages of horses that are clearly out of my age and/or height requirements.

Most recently my favourite has been a 15 year old Cob being offered when I said i'm looking for a 4 - 7 year old ONLY and no cobs. *Sigh*

So, any ideas on how to reduce the amounts of emails i'm getting about unsuitable horses or am I just going to have to sift through them all?

Thanks :)

Yes put this:

PLEASE ONLY CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE THE ABOVE, OTHERWISE I WILL EAT YOU. :) Works every time. :D

On a serious note though, Make sure it says to only contact you if the horse matches suitable boxes.. come across as grumpy if you have to. I would sift through the ones now though.

Isn't half frustrating knowing they wasted their time messaging me and i'm wasting my time reading about a bunch of unsuitable horses.

I really don't understand why "I want a youngster" can translate in any way to "oh yes, I'll happily come see your 15 year old". Blerrrgh.

You want to try advertising for a sharer - even if you put location & no under 15s due to yard rules I makes no difference. I am following for tips though - my wanted ads on facebook are getting more responses from Ireland than England.

I know the feeling about more from Ireland than England! Try advertising to say you want a Connie that's already based in the UK :')

Only thing that's making me continue to sift through inappropriate responses is hope of finding nice horse in end of it...and yet when I found perfect one on paper, it's owner responds initially and then cuts all contact! D:

I have a 3 year old of cob type, of any interest :p sorry couldn't resist. I politely put that no point messaging me with horses outside my criteria as I am after a certain type.

Haha :')
I think the worst ones by that are the ones that try and convince you their cob is the most amazing thing since sliced bread, or their 15 year old is actually very very green and "just like a 5 year old" xD

TBH 80% of the horses have fitted my criteria it's the geography that is wrong. Got so fed up on the past of driving hours to see an alleged 15.2 that was smaller than my 14.2.

Embrace it - you never know what you may be offered, also cut to the chase if they contact you and adopt a no nonsense approach with them :)
