Am looking to expand the family :) and am looking for a brindle coloured border collie pup - girl or boy - doesnt have to be KC registered.. am not in a rush, would be in a loving forever home with other border collie..

If anyone knows of someone who breeds or thinking of breeding then can they give me some contact details..

Thank you.

I know I used to think border collies came in black and white when I was a kid :D

I have always thought that merle was a grey/black/white mix?

I am looking for a reddy brown / black mix - have only ever seen one before... am willing to be corrected with proper colour term :)

There was a brindle strain of GSD but it died out in the 1920s, as you can imagine KK, there are lots of people in America who claim they have one! Very similar looking to the Dutch Herder we see today.
I wrote a letter about it to Dogs Today when I was about 12 :o :o :o

Yes you can have it in just about any colour you like in the USA, they've made Shetlands into positive giants, given us coloured Thoroughbreds (runs and hides for that one) and of course created an Australian dog that has never seen Australia (sorry KL) amongst others of course, I give you the land where anything is possible!!!

Does she mean reddy coloured like in your sig, N?

I though merle was to be avoided due to potential health issues? I know chis won't be registered if merle.

no there are plenty of healthy, registered merles, but it is advisable to do ALL health tests and also BAER hearing test as well, you shouldnt breed merle to merle tho.

OP - i wonder if they will stay that colour tho.Hmm.. ive seen pups that look like that and either mature as bog standard black or red tri's or sables. I swear in the thousands of BC's I've seen, literally, ive not yet seen a brindle, other than as a pup but the coat changes as they mature.Neversaynever though, lol:D

I call that brown and White!!

I've seen a few down south :) but most are black and White or merle.
Once in Singapore I saw a sandy coloured and White collie, it was stunning.

Let me know if you find one as that's going to be my next dog too!!!!

NEVERSAYNEVER - mmm interesting thank you, worth bearing in mind if I find a "brindle", will hopefully see parent / parents so if ok may be back to you then for your thoughts .. love the border collies on your signature :D
