Hi,

You don't say if you wish to rent or buy?

If you wish to buy then try Symonds and Sampson's site and look under Land. Alternatively try Hardy's Estate Agent's Residential sales. They currently have a couple of 4 acre meadows at East Burton. These seem to come up every 3 or 4 years, presumably because the pony riders have moved on to other hobbies. Make sure they are not liable to flood. I've ridden down to the ford at East Burton on many an occasion and know some are.

If you wish to rent then you will probably struggle. 4 acres is a tiny amount in this part of the world. At least 90% of the countryside is in the hands of really large land owners e.g. the Lulworth Estate owns 20 sq miles to the South of the A352, add the other major land owners of Forestry Commission, MOD, Moreton Estates, Charborough Park, Trigon Estates, Came Park and the Duchy of Cornwall, there isn't much left between Wareham and Dorchester. West and North of the A31 is similarly owned. If one of the major estates is willing to lease you some land it will be a lot more than 4 acres.

When I was renting additional land for my 3 horses to what I had at home, I thought 3 would be an ideal supplement. My first compromise was a sub-let of 7 acres as it was up the road and when that was no longer available due to a change of major tenant I then had to accept 25 + acres (though the price per acre got reduced).
Bartlett's at Bere Regis and Wareham pet shop may just have a rental to suit, or you could try advertising with them.

Thanks for the replys. The grazing on nfed is no quite what were after but thanks anyway.

And we are looking to rent, if we couldn't get 25+ acres we would be over the moon! We have a land agent looking for a large property with land but they are so few and far between.

We are down with local councils and estates But it seems it's a case of waiting and seeing. The larger the property the better!
