I want to buy a Thoughbred preferably from a trainers yard.

Specifications - 16 hands plus, any colour, gelding or mare, around 3 - 5 years old, middleweight, good conformation.

Does anyone know of any yards with T.Bs for sale.

Dont want to spend loads of money.

Home will be on leisure, competition yard, excellent facilities.

Have you tried getting in contact with racing yards local to you? I emailed a few around me and i got a few replies. I just went on google and searched racing yards south west.

Have a look on free ad places, eg horse trader, ad trader, preloved lots of 3 yo tb's doesn't necessarily say straight from yard but they are so cheap I would presume they are.

I also know of a nice yard with a fantastic owner. Sleepy came from there and I couldn't ask for a more perfect horse, let alone a 5 year old. Depends where you are though...

Mine was advertised in H&H. Although he wasn't the one I bought, ended up with a mare from the same yard. Where are you? I can tell you where I got mine from.

There are certain times of year when there are more available. Not sure when this is, but going on my experience, feb-march is a good time as they know what is cut out for racing and what isn't. Mine ran 6 races, hated the stall and was sold to me! Yay!

I was going to ask a similar question, is it best to just get in touch with local trainers just to get your name out there? I'm South East if anyone has any contacts, i'm not necessarily looking asap but i'm looking to get my next horse straight out of racing probably.

I have Newmarket contacts (trainers and vets) and often hear of horses looking for homes. Had a list of them a little while back. I think they were too far away for the people who were looking. PM me if you want me to put my ear to the ground. Most of them will be straight out of the yards.
