War Horse--the movie!!

a friend of mine is director in charge of horse make up and continuity:-) is currently working 'in the trenches' She is working alongside the director of mud make up. They are currently working in and around Castle Coombe. I can't wait to see it as it is based locally and has been filmed alot on Dartmoor and the South west

That's so cool! The play is set in Devon, so I guess it's fitting that it's filmed on Dartmoor! Any idea when they are doing the filming? Might need to take the dog to the moors to catch a sneak peak!!

ahh that might explain it, was up at Haytor on Dartmoor, one evening 2 weeks ago, and there was a film crew with 2 big bay horses, and a helicopter flying around filming a very handsome young man in period clothing ( joked with my daughter that is was leonardo De caprio) galloping up to haytor, we were there a good 2 hours watching them, lovely horses almost doubles. Can't wait for the film then.

I've known about this for ages but kept it under wraps until it was made public. Luckily my Aunts working on it, on the Make up side of things I presume :) But I wasn't sure whether it was real horses or the puppets as I haven't seen her in a while! I definitely look forward to seeing it!

I know loads of people, horsey and non horsey who have seen it more than once and all have cried. I cry at most of the posts on here so I haven't got the guts to go. The stage show that is.

The son of my yard owner was an extra in the film. He played one of the soldiers and I've been told he has a full frontal...... ( calm down ladies, of his face lol )

My next door neighbour but one is one of the stunt riders - not sure if he would be the good looking one, not realy looked at him that way!

How exciting! I saw the play at the National in its first month - we were sitting in the front row and within the first 10 minutes were in floods. Saw it again with OH as a birthday treat and it even got him teared up! Please, Spielberg, make an ET not an AI!

They are filming now at Castle Combe near Bath. You probably don't want to take the dog for a walk though as there are lots of big body gaurds around who if they spot you walking along the footpath escort you to to the end of the path!

They were filming last week at Toghill - famous car park with Badgers:eek:

Stephen Spielberg's private 737 jet has been at Exeter Airport (where I work) twice in the last couple of months for quite a few weeks at a time.

So excited to see the film.

Vote on how many boxes of Kleenex we should be taking...??? I say at least 2! :D

Now then I wonder if that was the same private jet that circled Chagford Show twice, (small agricultrial show to the side of Dartmoor) which was on the 19th August. If it was he was cussed by several people ;-)
