As winter draws near, I am keen to avoid another season of feeling like I'm going to lose my toes to frostbite on a hack. I actually had to cut some hacks short last year because my feet were so cold.
I've got the Dubarry Galways for yard stuff, but won't ride in them because I don't want to wreck them. I ride in Loveson long black leather boots, but they are like ice boxes in the winter and too snug to use thick socks or boot liners.
I want a pair of nice warm riding boots that are not too expensive and maybe that I could also put a liner in on the really, really cold days.
Any brilliant suggestions?

derbyhouse frontier boot! not that expensive and lovely and warm...not to mention comfortable for the cost!!

or...ariat mudbusters comfy but expensive for wellies!!

well i was using my nerprene aigle wellies lasst year for the same reason! not ideal to ride in but meant i could still feel my feet at the end...
i have just bought new dubarrys though so i can demote my old ones to riding status!

I LOVE my Mountain Horse High Riders - so cosy and roomy, loads of space for several layers of socks! Not exactly a bargain option but mine have lasted me forever.

Hi - I bought Mountain Horse Rimfrost Rider boots last winter & they are brill!! Worn every day, in all the usual and are still going strong, ready for this winter. Easy on the pocket too - got them on offer for £39.99

I have mountain horse with steel toe cap and arch supports, all that jargony stuff. They're just the little ankle sized one sbut I'm thinking about upgrading to the calf ones so I can do yard stuff and ride in them without having to get changed from wellies to boots and chaps, much quicker and easier.

I adore my other mountain horse ones, last pair lasted me 6 years of hard work and riding and when they finally gave up I went straight out and got another identical pair

I own a pair of the Mark Todd neoprene (sp?) boots, which I love. I got them for 50 pounds and they kjeep my feet really warm and they are very comfy ( I have to walk to the yard). They do look like the riding version of Ugg boots though!
