God, I am going to sound SO stupid! BUT...I have never really taken much notice before, but last night little man was warm around his coronet band and top of hoof.
Now, having not walked on the road before, he has no shoes and has always worked on menage or grass. Yesterday I walked him 2 miles to his new home on tarmac

I know, I know, but he refused to walk on the verge.

He's not standing any differently, and I just wondered if this was normal? like I said, i've really not taken much notice before, but thought I would check his legs yesterday as he was jogging a bit up the road.

This morning still warm, soles no warmth, just at top of hoof and coronet band...
He is VERY overweight ATM, part of the reason for the move so I can restrict his grass.
He's 3, never had laminitis or anything. Pulses are fine BTW.

I feel so stupid, is this normal??

If he's barefoot it's probably normal for him, as barefoot horses have more efficient circulation and their hooves are generally warm. It's worth feeling them regularly though so you know what is normal, and when something like concussion or fresh grass might have raised the temperature. Likewise with the digital pulses, you just need to check what's normal for your horse.
