My yearling warmblood has masses of mane - it looks normal until you realise she has the same amount of hair on each side of her neck, with a lovely centre parting. Do warmbloods naturally have a lot of hair? I've always had TBs until now and their manes have been pretty thin and spindly. Are there any pictures out there of warmbloods with natural manes, and does anyone compete one without pulling/trimming etc.?

No.... my old loan one had a very fine mane. My current warmblood has a thick wad of mane, until about half way down where it suddenly becomes thin and does not grow past a certain length!

If you pull your horses mane, send the spare hair my way :p

I have two warmbloods each with very different manes - my mare has a lovely straight mane that always seems to fall well, thick but not too much. My gelding has a crazy mane !! Somewhat like you've described OP and it's difficult to deal with as he takes offence to any pulling or trimming. When we compete I pull it over to the right side and plait it tightly although when he was younger I did compete with it as it was. Just a good wash and gallons of show sheen. Always seemed to look fine TBH !! :D

My wb has a pathetic mane. his forelock is just such a shame, about 5 hairs! I am afraid to touch it, in case he loses any. the previous owner had cut his tail quite short and 12 months on its just about grown to an acceptable length. i have been told off several times for it being short and its not my fault.

Thw wb cb has so much hair its untrue its a nightmare to plait (cause i am crap at it bloke an all that) and as you say some one side some the other.

My Hanoverian has min 67% TB blood as mum was a TB graded into the studbook and her mane would do well on a Dartmoor pony. ....it is a nightmare to keep neat, laying flat and thin
