Any chance we might do ok? I'm riding a 17hh by Renkum Valentino who is an sjer through and through. He is stunning and would jump the moon with perfect technique. He moves well but is quite rounded in his action and god knows if I'd get a gallop out of him!
I've been asked to event him but he isnt an eventer so owner would like to try some WH. He won a lot as a youngster in the show ring as a potential competition horse I think. Would we be wasting our time at county level?

many horses in WH classes are full or part WB. I had a gorgeous obviously WB mare and the judges loved her and she had a wacking great big brand on her bottom!
I think you should not let it worry you , so go for it and have fun

Let me come and have a look - he might be county quality. That would be very exciting. Jim never had the x factor to be county and not good enough movement but he had the right size and confirmation. The jumping is most important and there are restrictions on what level he can be at. I am pretty sure Grades A and advanced eventers are excluded.
I see more and more hunter stock classes with warmbloods in as they mature quicker.
I would say give it a go but if at local level the gallop is not important as a lot of the horses you are against are crap but it gets more and more as you go up. Also he would have to give a good ride.

Does this mean a new wardrobe for you?

My horse [left in siggie] is by renkum valentino as well.He is the youngster that has been doing brilliantly in dressage but his sj let us down at spillers ,not his fault just very green and never jumped on grass before. He has a super temperament and tries so hard at everything,so keep us informed. He is only about 16 hands as his dam was by Its the business and I think they can be smaller but that suits me.Good luck I think you could do well

The MW hunter we had last year was WB - he was 2nd at RIHS and 2nd at HOYS (too stupid to jump otherwise we would have tried workers with him!).

Try to disguise the warmblood bottom, and he will HAVE to learn to gallop!

He is seriously full of quality, just more of the warmblood variety! He is 6 this year and hasnt done much bar couple of PNs and a bit of sj, she's got a pro who's going to sit on him at shows and move him up through the ranks of BSJA but she'd love him to do something else as well.

We'll give it a go, at least it's someone else's horse so I wont have to clean the tack
