Random thought really - when I have a jumping session I normally warm up with long stirrups ie normal dressage length, then pop them up a few holes when ready to begin jumping. Do others do this or do you normally start the session with stirrups already at jumping length?
Shouldn't imagine it makes much difference either way but am interested to know what you do.

Start at jump length, have 5mins of walking around on loose rein, getting them to relax then pick up contact slowly, start collecting them up etc and walk, trot, canter.

Always start short and will normally be in light seat within 5 or 10mins. Stirrups always tend to go up again after I've warmed up.

Could never warm up in flat length - I've got 4 or 5 holes difference

Start off dressage lengh and slowly bring them up so before i jump I school with short stirrups to get me and horse back to to that postion.... I like my stirrups long though! And i ride youngesters or problem horses so always schooling... jump... schooling...jump... schooling...

I normaly warm up with jumping stirrups straight away, my old trainer (BHS examiner) also told us to warm up like that, but didn't actually give a reason for it, I also don't image there is much difference either. I am happy to warm up either way, just out of habit do it with short stirrups.

I only have one length.....jumping length

Seriously though, if I do ever try and ride a little longer, I actually end up straining my groin if i'm not careful. Having been through about 4 months of pain in that department, i'm not prepared to risk it anymore.
