I am riding 2 horses in a small showjumping event on the same night:
The first is a short overweight palomino who enjoys running out at full speed, but is slow the other times.
The second is a flighty horse who spooks at anything.
I know they are both just messing around, so does anyone have any tips on keeping a horse focused whilst warming up?
Thank you

I've tried that many times, it works for about 15 minutes. I get in the ring, they jump beautifully untill about fence 3, and then it falls apart.

All good fun though. Thanks

keep changing direction and speed within the gait so they cant lose concentration.turn quite quickly on to the warm up fence so they dont have time to look at it or put in a stop. are they like this when practising at home or is it just when competing? if it's a regular occurance then i think it's just a case of practise, practise, practise. good luck!!

Thanks! I don't own them, but the short one is a lead rein pony who hardly does jumping, but I want to let him have fun. But I've never been told that method of warming up, and I will try it out. Thank you again!
