Warning about lunging!!

Make sure that all clips on your lunging equipment are properly fastened otherwise your lunge rein could come off and your horse could dart out the sand school and go cantering up the field, pessoa and all!!!! LOL

It was so funny (obvioulsy not at the time though) my lunge rein came off as the clip had got stuck due to sand being lodge in it!! My horse done a couple of circuits not realising she was loose and i was thinking 'sh*t how am i gonna stop her without her realising she is loose' but she realised before i could think of anything and went darting out the school and across the field in the dark with her pessoa on

She soon realised that no-one was out and came cantering back (all show pony stylie ha ha) but in the mean time i was legging it to the top gate as i thought i had left it open and it leads out onto the lane but luckily i had shut it, phew!!!!

Got her back and took her back down in the school but by then she was all wound up and wouldn't settle, so we did a few circuits of canter and called it a day.

I was PMSL afterwards but at the time it was very scary coz i thought she might slip on the mud and not be able to get back up coz of the pessoa and also fear of her running into the lane.

So just a little warning to those that are as blonde as me

A lesson to be learned :P Clean all tack :P ... In all seriousness it could have been a disaster but these things can happen .

Everywhere we go in the yard, all gates are shut , if you open a gate you close it immediately after you .

It wasn't my lunge line, it was my friends coz my horse broke mine last week

Think she is trying to tell me something ha ha.

We shut all gates as well as thats the yard rules but i just panicked and thought 'what if it hasn't shut properly!!' as she could of pushed against it and it would of come open and then she would of got out the main gate which i did leave open coz i was being lazy

Lesson learnt there though!!!
 
lol, that happenned to me! Was being lunged on my pony at canter without reins (they were wrapped up in the throatlash) when the lunge line came undone, so she just continued to canter round the school until I said "woah" upon which she stopped dead

LOL, bet that was a bit of a panick at the time but at least no harm was done

There is a horse at my yard, and his owner (the YO) can lunge him round her with just the use of voice! she never uses a lunge line he knows when to make the circle bigger and smaller its amazing to watch
 
There was a horse at our old yard (many moons ago) that used to do that called Folly. She used to changed the rein and everything through one movement of his hand, we used to watch her nearly every morning!! So well trained!!
