I just went there and the Horse Deals sites is infected with a malicious virus 'Net-Worm.JS.Aspxor.a'

If you haven't got decent protection internet explorer will automatically run this.

Suggest everyone steers clear until they sort themselves out!

Yes I saw that link, clicked on it; my computer shouted at me very loudly and started getting all upset - I switched it off before any damage was done though.

There is definitely a virus on that site and the person who said there wasn't, is mistaken. Shame Admin didn't pay attention to you CH.

No, no moderators on here. I guess we should all have shouted a bit more loudly - hopefully this thread will help stop some people from infecting their computers.

ooh i tried to get on there earlier and couldnt see anything, it came up with a msg and i clicked yes... but dont think any damage has been done as my computer is still alive. I think we have very good antivirus software as its a university computer.... hmm who knows, maybe time will tell.

This is a worm known as Asprox, it downloads malware to the victims PC. You may not even notice its happened, it means computers from all over the world can connect to your PC

Asprox properties:
• Allows remote user connection
• Hides from the user
• Stays resident in background

This can steal your eBay, PayPal, Banking details and leaves you totally vulnerable (ever wondered how someone hacked your account?)

For those with too much time on their hands this is a good link:
http://www.finjan.com/MCRCblog.aspx?EntryId=2002

The NHS was also infected with this worm

Anyone who clicked on the link needs to run their AV software.

You need to switch off your system restore, update your virus definitions and run your AV in safe mode.

Don't rely on turning your computer off, thinking your computer is running ok. If you clicked an infected link, the worm could be running in the background without your knowledge and without your AVs knowledge.

AVG isn't very good. There is a reason why it's free

And even the paid for version doesn't score very highly in virus detection compared to the main players.

What program do you recommend for efficient virus, etc., scanning? I'm about to update mine so wouldn't like to spend my money on anything less than efficient. Many thanks.

Eset NOD 32 is the best on the block at the moment.

If for some reason you don't like it go for Kaspersky. But I strongly urge NOD 32. It has the smallest memory foot-print I've encountered and is scoring higher than anything (other than kespersky perhaps) on the ICSA labs tests.

Anyone know when this started? I used the site a few days ago and it worked as normal and my virus didn't pick anyhting up when I scanned. I only have Norton, is that useless? Didn't click through from the link on the post just visited the site normally.

Must admit, I detest Norton and McAfee. They take over so much of your computer, use oodles of processors and are the most targetted AV to get around.

I've just run everything in safe mode and my lappy is ok. I clicked on the link when the thread first started.

Just to update you all - they are now cleansing their SQL database

I strongly recommend anyone who went their thurs-sun to run a malware checker on their computer to be on the safe side!
